DENVER, Colorado – June 6, 2011 – The Ascent Services Group, today announced the appointment of Jovan King as Practice Director of their Data Management Services practice. A 15-year data technology veteran and an innovative technical leader, King will lead the Data Management Services practice in delivering customer-focused information management solutions. This includes large scale integrated Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions; Master Data Management as a strategic enabler; and optimizing database design and performance for scalable transactional systems. “In this role, King will oversee senior management and technology consultants in the data management practice to deliver bottom-line impacting solutions for our clients,” related Mark Johnson, Vice President - Strategic Consulting at The Ascent Services Group. At his disposal will be several internationally recognized data management partners including resources such as Bill Inmon and Derek Strauss (co-authors of Data Warehouse 2.0), and The Winter Corporation.
King has delivered bottom-line information management value in a variety of industries. As a result, he is often invited to speak at data management industry events on topics including Master Data Management, Business-Aligned Business Intelligence, and Driving Value from the Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Prior to joining Ascent, King served at Cricket Communications where he led teams to deliver two Master Data Management solutions, which were critical to the success of a new Point of Sale platform and a suite of Supply Chain solutions. He also led Enterprise Business Intelligence and Data Architecture teams in instituting data modeling standards and processes where he drove a business-aligned BI program. As Senior Engineering Manager at Maxtor Corporation (acquired by Seagate Technologies), King was part of a development team that developed a next-generation robotically controlled test floor. He architected a 10-terabyte data warehouse and co-developed a proprietary Business Intelligence platform (used for over 20,000 reports per month). Around this time, he co-invented a database query engine technology optimized for query execution over the WAN (Wide Area Network), saving the company over $1.4 million in annual costs.
