The Ascent Services Group's Recruiting Support teams ensure compliance — from résumé formatting and background checks to payroll and benefits coverage. Our Service Delivery Managers also ensure both our clients’ and consultants’ needs are met.
Background Checks
ASG has extensive experience supporting large customers that enforce and require adherence to strict quality standards including:
- Collection and retention of all and any sub vendor documents
- I-9 compliance
- Background check and drug/heath screen compliance
- Pay roll records for mark-up compliance
- Reference checks
We use Employment Screening Services (ESS) for our background checks. At a minimum, we research 7 years of criminal history, an auxiliary National Criminal Index search, Social Security Trace, and global terrorist search. This screening process includes a search of court records to determine a candidate's criminal history in all jurisdictions where the individual has lived, worked, or attended school. Background checks take 3-5 business days for Criminal. At the client’s discretion, employment, education, credit checks are available, and can take from 5 to 15 business days depending on how much has to be verified and how cooperative the verifiers are. For international background checks, it takes 5 to 15 business days depending on country and how many jurisdictions and if it includes education and employment.
Drug Tests
We conduct drug tests if the client requires them. The Ascent Services Group utilizes both Quest Diagnostics and Concentra Medical service providers. Results are received within 24 to 48 hours.
Reference Checks
Reference checks and work history verification are also a critical part of helping us verify candidate strengths, weaknesses and work performance. At ASG, we utilize a minimum of two references from past supervisors.
Insurance and Regulatory Requirements
To work with ASG as an independent contractor, several requirements must be met:
- The company has to be incorporated and in good standing in the state of incorporation. We ONLY work with corporations with a Fed Tax ID Number; NO sole proprietors, 1099 or partnerships.
- The company has to provide ASG with a copy of the company’s articles of incorporation.
- The company has to provideASG with a certificate of insurance with The Ascent Services Group as additionally insured and as a certificate holder (an ACORD form is normally used).
- The company has to agree to a contracting agreement that has the general terms of the relationship and then for each engagement, there will be a separate Purchase Order detailing the resource, the rate, the dates, etc.
- The company will need to submit an invoice semi-monthly to get paid.
Insurance requirements:
- $1,000,000 in General Liability.
- Workers’ Compensation to the statutory limit. (Exception: in California if it is a single person corporation, it is not required.)
- This is the minimum, and additional insurance may be required depending on the client’s insurance requirements.
- A 30-day notice in case of cancellation of insurance or termination of insurance.
